Studio Restructures Workforce Amid Commercial Challenges and Creative Transitions

The gaming community is once again witnessing challenging developments within a well-known studio. Recent changes have left many wondering about what lies ahead for this creative powerhouse.

The developer responsible for Disco Elysium and Zero Parades: For Dead Spies has confirmed that it "is projected to trim its employee count by up to" 32 positions. Staff members across the organization have been informed of their redundancies or received at-risk notifications as part of this restructuring.

This decision comes on the heels of lower-than-expected sales for the studio’s latest Title, even though it garnered favorable acclaim from critics. The game did not achieve the commercial success the company had anticipated, leading management to implement these workforce adjustments.

According to a company statement, while the organizational changes will alter the studio’s structure, its creative drive remains unwavering. The management emphasized that the artistic vision and standards the studio is known for will persist, even if new projects take longer to materialize.

Previous internal challenges — including the departure of several key creative figures who went on to form their own teams — have already cast a shadow over the studio’s recent endeavors. These issues have in turn led to public uncertainty regarding the support for Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, as its reputation has not yet matched that of Disco Elysium in terms of enthusiasm and word-of-mouth momentum.
